Suzanis are types of silk embroidered fabrics in Central Asia, they have origins as legendary as the motifs that cover their beautiful surface. They are fascinating for their symbolism both in the use of color (red means fire and sun, the blues embody the sky, and the greens represent spring and youth) as well as for their designs such as flowers and other natural elements. The Suzanis of Nurata, Samarkand, Bukhara, Shahrisyabz, Tashkent and Fergana, are best known with respect to their colors, material, pattern and the type of stitches used and their embroideries in stylized forms vary according to the region, tribe, family and craftsmen who they embroider them.
