SUZANI

The Suzanis of Uzbekistan have origins as legendary as the motifs that cover their surface. They are full of symbolism and generally contain geometric patterns such as flowers and other natural elements, all have meanings that are embroidered in stylized forms that vary according to the region, tribe, family and artisans.
The Suzanis of Nurata, Samarkand, Bukhara, Shahrisyabz, Tashkent and Fergana, are better known with respect to their colors, material, pattern and the type of stitches used. All its colors impart a deep meaning: yellows and oranges represent knowledge; red means fire and sun, blue embodies the sky, and greens represent spring and youth.
Suzani is one of the most popular folk arts in Uzbekistan, a word that not only means embroidery, but also refers to the large panels covered with this decorative embroidery. Suzanis hand embroidered are impregnated with the character that only comes from everyday use. Maybe it was created by a girlfriend to show her love towards her fiancé.
